Kale has been driving the super food bandwagon for as long as we can remember here at Perfect Body Tea, so we have taken it upon ourselves to revive some of our old favourite Kale inspired recipes.
Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables around and one way to be sure to enjoy the maximum nutrition and flavor from kale is to cook it properly. Steaming Kale will ensure its entire super food goodness stays sealed inside. Along with your Perfect Body Tea, Kale is a great addition to your weekly meal plan as it enhances the body’s detoxification process and aids in digestion.
It’s no secret that this leafy green isn’t exactly the tastiest ingredient on its own but we promise to excite and awaken your taste buds with our own unique twist on a Kale salad.
Introducing the super simple and super tasty, Kale and pink grapefruit salad.
- 1 pink grapefruit
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 8 cups thinly sliced kale (centre ribs and stems removed)
- 1 avocado, halved, pitted, sliced into 1/2-inch wedges
Using a sharp knife, cut peel grapefruit into small segments. Working over a small bowl, cut between membranes to release segments into bowl. Squeeze juice from membranes into another small bowl; add any accumulated juices from bowl with segments (there should be about 1/4 cup juice total). Whisk oil into juice and season to taste with salt and pepper.
Lightly steam kale and place in a large bowl. Drizzle 3 Tbsp. dressing over steamed Kale. Toss to combine and let stand for 10 minutes. Toss once more and then arrange grapefruit segments and avocado slices over kale. Drizzle with remaining dressing and serve!
